The invitations should be 'fancy' with glitter and cursive writing if possible. The decorations can be a tea party setting with a tablecloth, cloth napkins and silverware. The books themselves actually give recipes and ideas for creating the perfect tea party. Use these ideas for your party.
Activities
There are several wonderful activities to use for this party. The first is to have each guest make their own fancy place mat as they arrive. This will keep them busy until everyone arrives. Once all guests have completed their place mat you can read a Fancy Nancy book so that everyone understands the theme of the party. After reading the book it is time for some fun. Tea parties required some fancy items and the girls can go on a scavenger hunt to find these items so the 'party' can begin. This list is only some suggestions. The items can be hidden inside or outside. Before beginning the game tell the girls where they can look and divide them into pairs. Make sure there is at least one child who can read in each pair. If not the list should contain pictures of the items as well as the words. Here is a sampling:
